Tree Planting at Kalunasan

We are grateful for so many things in the past 7 weeks.

To start with, we have updated our Dilaab primer and have been distributing it electronically to interested individuals. The primer describes our journey for the last 8 years. We have also applied a copyright for our logo and will soon be sending copies of our primer and modules to the National Library. Still, it is clear to us that our basic spirit ought to be: “Freely we receive, freely we give.”

I received ideas for a Dilaab center and the services it will offer to the growing network of the movement. Last 23 May, before the annual meeting of the Dilaab Foundation Inc., our members had a chance to plant trees at Kalunasan, Cebu City. We gave a “name” to the seedling with the hope that it survives. With the rainy season coming earlier than usual, we are expectant.

Youth Press Con

Last May 11, a new phase, with new faces, of Dilaab was born with a press con by Dilaab youth encouraging youth voters’ registration. The media picked up the simple message of our youth volunteers. One asked if the COMELEC can make the process more appealing and accessible to youth.

We have also developed and slowly refine a process, i.e. mechanism and tools, for forming the consciences of voters as well as the “pastoral accompaniment of a new generation of Catholics working in politics” (Benedict XVI). Our emerging modules start with 3 basic questions: Ganito na lang ba tayo? Maari pa ba tayong managinip at ano ang ating mga panaginip? Anong uri ng mga liders ang ating kakailanganin upang makamtan ang ating mga panaginip?
